Vasilisk - Acqua LP (Musica Maxima Magnetica, 1989)

Vasilisk was a Japan duo (Tomo Kuwabara & Yukio Nagoshi) in 1985, after the split up of the political unit 'White Hospital', Tomo Kuwabara started up the unit Vasilisk with Yukio Nagoshi (percussions/guitars) and Chiaki (percussions).
They made a first album called 'Whirling Dervishes' in 1987, released through Eskimo, which was the label established by Yun 'Grim' Konagaya. In this album they played several and unusual instruments: African skin-drums, African flute, Tibetan percussions, Ancestor's voices. In 1988 they made a second album called 'Mkwaju' with the same line-up and also released by Eskimo. Just after the release of this album, Tomo and Yukio joined Rose Mcdowall's new project Candy Cain. They toured through Japan during most of 1988. Around that time, Luciano Dari invited them to release their next album on his label Musica Maxima Magnetica.
After the collaboration with the Rose's project in 1989, they started to record their third album 'Acqua' in London and Naples (Italy) with the same three members. 'Acqua' was released at the end of the same year by Musica Maxima Magnetica.

Limited Edition of 1000.

Studio side recorded at: Bowsprit Point Studio, London (1 Oct. - 23 Oct.) Zona Music Studio, Napoli (25 Oct. - 1 Nov.).

Nora Keyes - Songs To Cry By For The Golden Age Of Nothing (dualpLOVER, 2004)

Norah Keyes is blessed with a fingers down the chalkboard wail, a fragile cackling cry that brings up connections with witches, and the dark arts, as in full flight she sounds suspiciously like a wizened old hag who possibly communicates with evil spirits. Her songs are sparse and morose, primarily accompanied only by organ, they are flat, spooky haunted house folk songs with an edge. It all sounds like it was recorded one hundred years ago, possibly in a tomb. Her cover of Jimmy Rogers Old Pal, with its ghostly cries and Ms Keyes off kilter yodeling is particularly off putting, whilst her incessant cackling and theatrical delivery on Small Apart are enough to produce a form of nervous hysteria in the listener. A true eccentric Norah Keyes debut album, Songs To Cry For The Golden Age of Nothing is very very strange, even by Dual Plover's standards.

Strafe F.R. - Moor (Staalplaat, 1993)

"If you take Moor as a landscape, it offers a lot of possibilities; either to drown, or to get marshy, or to get bogged down, or to get blinded by beauty. You watch a rare animal or plant and the next step there is muddy soil. There is a good smell of heather, but also millions of summer-gnats and the black grouse. A moor also has its unique acoustic. In the musical Moor there are some contact mines to be found; there are sloughs, poison snakes and slow-worms to be found in the world of pop music. After a short time big parts of pop music disappear inside of mud holes where they rot and decay. Occasionally some of this rises again as a moor corpse - these revived corpses appear in pop museums but they have historical relevance only, they are spent and past. The contact mines in the pop music can cause destructive explosions which give birth to new possibilities, or just create new holes in the ground." Strafe FR Interview

Strafe F.R. ‎- Pianoguitar (Staalplaat, 1995)

Over the course of several albums, Strafe Für Rebellion developed a personal style of abstract instrumental music that owed a lot to their use of home-made instruments, found objects and field recordings.
They dissolved quietly in the mid 90s, after releasing the "Pianoguitar" album.

Strafe Für Rebellion - Vögel (Touch, 1989)

"Music is more than an acoustic phenomenon. The perception of music is dependent on the ability (and capacity) of the human ear - how the ear functions technically and how the brain is able to work out those informations, knit them together with the information from the other senses, your thoughts and your individual experiences."
